Making a difference since 2017! Did you know that the Washington Community Foundation’s Central 51 Fund has granted $109,596 to our district? That’s $83,737 for wish list items and $25,859 for 59 teacher grants! Central School District 51 is grateful for the support and resources for students and staff.
This year’s group of grants includes: Drones in the Classroom, Introduction to Engineering and Coding, Digital Microscopes, and Creating a Comfortable Classroom with Flexible Seating.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder. Someone with ASD may have difficulty with social interaction, communication, and behavior. For example, the earliest signs of ASD are that children may not make eye contact with their parents and may not be aware when someone is talking to them. About 30% of people (about 1 in 3) with ASD have an intellectual disability.

CPS students have had a great start to our One School, One Book event this week!
Kindergarten through 4th grade students are all reading 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel ÷ 1 Dog = Chaos by Vivian Vande Velde together with their class through April 16. After our event wraps up, every student will bring home a free copy of “8 Class Pets” thanks to our amazing PTO!

Today we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing mismatched socks. Wearing mismatched socks represents that everyone is different in their own way, just like each sock is unique. We are happy to celebrate the lives and achievements of those with Down Syndrome, as well as support their rights, inclusion, and well-being.

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Volleyball Team on winning the Regional Championship last night!!! GO TROJANS! They will play in the Sectional Game against Morton Junior High School on March 11 at 6:30 pm at Dunlap Middle School, 5200 W. Cedar Hills Drive, Dunlap, IL.
Central Intermediate School’s Drama Department invites you to this year’s SPRING PLAY performance of Villain School. Performances will be live at the Central Primary Gym on Friday, March 15th and Saturday, March 16th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6pm with tickets purchased at the door only- $5 per ticket! A concession stand with drinks and snacks will be available for $1 each.
LIVE stream tickets must be purchased in advance starting Monday, March 4th. These are for at home viewing on March 15th and 16th at 7pm. This is NOT a recording that can be watched at anytime. See the attached image for the link.
