🚗 CIS Morning Drop-Off Reminder

What a wonderful first day! We loved having our students back in the building and were so impressed with how well they handled the start of a new school year!

As we head into tomorrow morning, we want to share one important reminder to help keep our car line safe and moving as smoothly as possible.

Vehicles may NOT enter the CIS car line through the CPS parking lot.

Beginning tomorrow, cones and a sign will be in place from 7:15–7:50 AM to prevent vehicles from accessing the CIS car line through the CPS lot. Vehicles attempting to enter from that direction will need to turn around or wait until after 7:50 AM to enter the car line.

We know mornings can be busy and sometimes a little chaotic! Our goal is not to make drop-off more difficult, but to alleviate some of that morning stress by keeping traffic moving in one consistent, predictable direction while keeping our students, staff, and families safe.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as everyone settles into our morning routines. We appreciate our CIS families! 💙

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first Better Because You’re Here Family Session last week! We are so grateful to all of the families who attended, as well as our amazing Student Council babysitters and volunteers who helped make the evening possible. A special thank you to Dr. Allen Barton for sharing the research and practical strategies to help families create a healthy balance with technology. And a big thank you to Michael’s in Washington for providing a delicious meal for our families! We’re excited to continue these opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together. 💙

We are very proud of 7th grader Marshall for his contributions to a collaborative research project with Illinois Central College that was presented at the American Association of Physics Teachers National Summer Meeting in Pasadena, California!

Marshall participated in a research workshop at ICC and continued working on the Cloud Spotting on Mars project during school breaks. His dedication, curiosity, and love of learning led to his work being featured at a national conference.

Dr. Viji Varadarajan, ICC Physics Professor, shared the following about Marshall: "Presenting research at a national conference is an exceptional accomplishment that highlights his dedication, critical thinking, and ability to contribute meaningfully to scholarly work at an early stage in his academic journey. This achievement reflects Marshall's sustained commitment to academic excellence and scientific inquiry."

We are so proud of Marshall and his hard work, and we are grateful that Dr. Varadarajan and Professor Grote shared his accomplishment with us!

We can't wait to see all that Marshall accomplishes in his future!

We are #BetterBecauseYou'reHere, Marshall!

Have you seen this uniform?

If your student participated in track last spring and you still have a CIS uniform at home, please return it to the CIS Office as soon as possible.

We're getting ready for cross country season and are running low on uniforms. Every uniform that finds its way back helps ensure our runners are ready for their first meet!

Please take a quick peek in closets, sports bags, and laundry rooms. We'd love to welcome those uniforms back home.
