Central School District 51 is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill two vacancies on its Board of Education. The open seats were previously held by Board members Kimberly Blundy, who is transitioning to a new career opportunity out of state, and Dominic Lang, who is stepping down due to family commitments.

To be eligible to serve, applicants must be United States citizens, at least 18 years of age, registered voters, and residents of the State of Illinois and Central School District 51 for at least one year prior to appointment.

The candidates selected by the Board will serve until the next school board election on April 6, 2027. To continue serving beyond that date, appointees will need to run for election in the April 6, 2027, election to secure a full four-year term.

Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest and resume via email to Dale Heidbreder, Superintendent, at dheidbreder@central51.net. All application materials must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, to be considered by the Board of Education.
