1. On Friday, March 8th, Mrs. Faulkner's class worked with the Washington Community High School IMPACT Program. This WCHS program seeks to help high school students realize their potential to make a difference through community service. In Mrs. Faulkner's class, WCHS students lead math instructional centers and had the opportunity to engage with excited first graders. This program is a win-win for students at Central #51 and WCHS.
2. To finish up the CPS faculty meeting on Monday, March 11, February Golden Apple winners, Julie Zimmermann and Lori Cunningham, handed off the awards to new recipients. Congratulations to Mrs. Desirea Brown, second grade teacher, and Mr. Robert Deatherage, computer teacher, on being the Golden Apple recipients for March. Your positive attitudes and commitment to your students and school is appreciated by all of us in the Central #51 community.
3. Congratulations to the CIS Scholastic Bowl Team for winning the Championship at the Tazwood Conference Scholastic Bowl Tournament. Congratulations Coaches Smith, Lowry and the Team for a job well done!
4. Congratulations to all of Central’s Solo and Ensemble Contest performers. In total Central earned 149 1st place rating medals and 25 2nd place rating medals. There were also several PERFECT scores… Will Reem’s Trombone solo, Lily D’Amico’s piano solo, Emory Milot’s piano solo, Vocal Triple Trio singing “The Violet” and Chamber Ensemble #3 singing “Jentends Le Moulin” all received perfect scores!! Congratulations to ALL Central Choir and Band students for very fine performances!!!
